HAANSTRA CLINICS

Date 09-06-2010

LAMMERT HAANSTRA started 28 May 2010 with his series of 2 three days Lunging Clinics at DAGERAAD STUD. The next clinic starts 11 June 2010, also at DAGRAAD STUD.
The clinic was very impressive, all the participants agreed on. Lammert showed how to train a horse in such a way that it becomes a good riding horse. After that the participants had to do it by themselves, which was not easy at all.
The proof of the pudding was to ride the horse after it was lunged according to the HAANSTRA Methode. All participants regognised the difference.
People from all over South Africa, Namibia and The Netherlands followed the clinic,  which was also ment to be a preparation for the TALENT TEST.
The preparation for this Test starts 14 June 2010 for untrained horses, 28 June 2010 for lunged horses and 12 July 2010 the 5 weeks training under the supervision of KOOS NABER starts, foolowed by an exam and judgement on 15 August 2010 by JAAP WERNERS and SAWBS.
It seems worth to mention that the judgement of Warm Blood Horses by SAWBS on 15 August 2010 is probably the last that will take place in the Western Cape this year.

There is still place for the HAANSTRA CLINIC during  11, 12 and 13 June 2010 and people are invited to visit us during the exam and judgement of the horses on 15 August 2010.

D@D AND JOHAN LOTTER PERFORMED SO WELL

Date 23-02-2010

The Dutch Foundation Disabled@Dageraad, renamed by the highly respected visitor Alan Nelson of Nelsons Creek, the famous Wine Estate in Paarl, into DAD, had its official start of its activities on the 20th of February 2010 at Dageraad Stud.

The Dutch Consul Generaal Mr. De Waal was there to reward the disabled riders.

No doubt, the Dutch instructors Ineke Kloes and Janet Bakker, who came over to South Africa for this special event as volunteers on their own expense, made a enormous contribution to the success of it by instructing both the volunteers and the management of Dageraad Stud as the disabled riders.

But the most important contribution was made by the disabled riders. They were phenomenal as the judge, Mrs. Shane Mundell, from Robertson, and all the spectators agreed on.

The initiative of Disabled@Dageraad deserves support from al over the country, especially from the institutions in the neighbourhood of Dageraad Stud, for instance those who take care of blind people, deaf people and children with Down syndrom.

Piet Raijmakers sr. unexpectacly had to cancel his contibution to the D@D opening because of health problems.
The board of D@D had to find a solution for his absence.                  And it did!!
Piet Raijmakers mentioned Johan Lotter as a rider who could give the clinics Piet promised to give for the benefit of D@D.
The board of D@D contacted Johan Lotter and he immediately was willing to replace  Piet Raijmakers in this respect. This is fantastic!

Those who followed his clinics, original and new subscribers, agreed: the clinics of Johan are great.
His way of instructing show jumping riders is according to them so much better then the, lets say, traditional way, to put it mildly, of  instructing show jumping riders.

Johan Lotter has found a lot of supporters in his way to become member of the South African Olympic Show Jumping Team, not only in South Africa but also in Europe where he is competing last year and this year with his horse Rendement.

JOHAN LOTTER CLINICS AT OPENING D@D

Date 16-02-2010

The 20th of February the Foundation Disabled@Dageraad celebrates its official start of its activities at Dageraad Stud, Robertson.

The board of the Foundation D@D is very proud that JOHAN LOTTER, the South African Show Jumping Rider who is training and competing overseas, and therefore really international, gives "acte de presence" and will give an demonstration and clinics on the 20th and 21st of February.

Johan and his horse NOVA ZONNESTRAAL RENDEMENT (by Burggraaf, one of the founding fathers of Dutch Warm Blood Breeding) are based at the stable of the top Dutch rider Erik van der Vleuten. Johan placed first in a 2-Star rated Belgium schow in the 1m 45 class and is on his way to qualify himself for the South African Olympic Show Jumping Team
The board of the Foundation D@D expects that Johans European experience enables him to give clinics according to the recent European training developments that has proven to be the most successvol practice in the world.

LUNGEING BY LAMMERT HAANSTRA

Date 14-01-2010

DAGERAAD STUD has invited LAMMERT HAANSTRA (www.lammert-haanstra.nl) to give LUNGEING CLINICS.

Lammert Haanstra is considered to be THE lungeing expert in Europe. Lungeing is an essential part of the training of young horses. It is necessary for getting a good sport horse, whether it is a dressage horse or show jumper. In fact proper lungeing is the only way to get a nice riding horse.                                                                                                                                               Proper lungeing is also very important for a rider: the rider learns to get the balance he needs for horse riding without (mis)using his reins. Riders all over the world use lungeing to improve their riding.

 It is for sure not a simple activity, it is not just running around as very often is seen. Every horse needs its own lungeing treatment and training and Lammert Haanstra teaches you how to do it with your own horse during a 3 days course at Dageraad Stud.

The first clinic is from 28 - 30 May 2010, the second from 11 - 13 June 2010.

Dageraad Stud offers a package consisting of
- 3 days stay at the Stud with breakfast and diner;
- 3 days stabling and livery;
- 3 days instruction by Lammert Haanstra.
The maximum number of people who can attend a clinic is 10, so every person gets the personal attention that is needed.

The fee is ZAR 5.500, ex VAT
However in case one subscribes before March the 1st and a deposit of ZAR 2.000 is paid before that date the fee is ZAR 5.000, ex VAT

NEW DRESSAGE MARES & FOALS DAGERAAD STUD

Date 23-12-2009

After several weeks of quarantine in Germany, followed by 30 days of quarantine in Cape Town, our mares and foals arrived at Dageraad Stud on the 23rd of December 2009.

BENIGMA AM (Flemmingh x Farington x Weltgeist) and her foal ELENA, by UPHILL (Oscar x Appolonius XX x Luitenant General) felt really comfortable at the Stud. Elena showed her capabilities and the general feeling is that she is one of the best moving dressage fillies in the country.

BOMALIA (Flemming x Good Times x Prius) and her foal ERASMUS, by OSCAR (Wolfgang x Nabuur x Courville XX) impressed us by performing almost acrobatic excercies. Erasmus for sure is a dressage colt of the highest quality.

Both mares are in foal. Enigma AM by Uphill and Bomalia by Oscar.
The quality of their foals justifies the decision to make use of the same stallions as we did before.

Please do not hesitate to visit us to see our new mares and all the foals we got in 2009.

The ambition of Dageraad Stud is not only to be THE breeder of Warm Blood Horses, Dageraad Stud also wants to produce well behaved horses that are willing and capable to belong to the best riding horses.

According to the the best dressage riders and show jumpers lungeing is a crucial part of the training both of the horse and of its rider. Without proper lungeing one never gets a good riding horse. TALENT TEST AT DAGERAAD STUD GREAT SUCCESS

Date 09-08-2009

July 31st , 2009, the exam of the Talent Test for young horses, the SA equivalent for the famous KWPN Mare Test, was held at Dageraad Stud. At the same event SAWHS inspected young horses for the South African Warmblood Studbook and judged Jaap Werners on behalf of KWPN the conformation of the horses.
All this took place after 5 weeks of training of the young horses, most of them had not even reached the age of 3 yet, under the supervision of Koos Naber. The horses ridden by Elisabeth Bryant, Kimberley Hathaway and Lisel Maritz who unfortunatley brook her foot
  after 2 weeks, but staid at the Stud and was of great help for the organisation of the event, showed their talent for the breeding of show jumpers or dressage horses.
Dageraad's BLOSSEM, BREGJE and BRITTA, passed the exam.
Dageraad's BLOSSEM AND BREGJE were juged so good for their conformation that, in combination with the Talent Test exam results, they received the KWPN STER qualification. This means that Dageraad Stud has produced 3 KWPN STER mares the last 2 years:
- Dageraad's ZWOEL by Dageraad out of Orenta (Zeoliet x Palfrenier) in 2008;
- Dageraad's BLOSSEM by Sandreo out of Linda ( Landwind II B x Marinier) in 2009;
- Dageraad's BREGJE by Good Times out of Karogina (Purioso x Zuidhorn) in 2009.

As mentioned, SAWHS inspected he horses as well for its own Stud book. This was done by Charmaine Watts, assisted by Frances Cheboub, who both came over from Johannesburg to inspect the horses.
Dageraad's AXEL by Dageraad out of Unato (Metall x Wolfgang) was licenced as Breeding Stallion. He looks very similar to Dageraad and his movement is even better.
Premium qualifications were given to Dageraad's BLOSSEM AND BREGJE.

More then 50 people attented the tests and the inspections.

The following day Jaap Werners gave a clinic about confirmation. The clinic had over 30 really active participants.

Without a doubt the Talent Test contributes to the quality of breeding of Warm Blood Horses in South Africa. We expect that we are able to organise next year the 3rd SA Talent Test

DAGERAAD'S TODD DUTCH NATIONAL LEVEL DRESSAGE

Date 15-05-2009

Dageraad's TODD (by Dageraad, out of Germana) is qualified for the Dutch national dressage competition (ZZ licht)
The stallion proves himself as an all rounder, with some preference for dressage, since he jumps at this moment 1.30 m. and competes in the cross country in the M grade.

DAGERAAD INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE IN RONDEBERG CLOSED

Date 01-05-2009

Dageraad Stud has closed Dageraad International Equestrian Centre in Rondeberg from the 1st of May on.
Although the livery and the infrastructure for training and riding horses at DIEC were outstanding, the main commercial purpose of DIEC, i.e. the training and riding of young horses, did and will not reach in the foreseeable future the required level to be successful in the market, mainly because of a lack of trainers for young horses.
This is also the opinion of the manager of DIEC.

This analysis in combination with the reached severe negative financial results and the reasonable expectation that DIEC will not be profitable, and on top of that the financial worldwide crisis, was reason for the the financiers of DIEC to refuse further financing of DIEC.
Since no other financier could be found to finance further future losses of DIEC the decision to close DIEC was the only option left.

Dageraad Stud concentrates its activities at its farm in Robertson, i.e. the breeding of sport horses, dressage and show jumping, in line with the KWPN requirements. The training and riding of these young horses takes also place at the Stud.   By creating 10 hectares of additional paddocks Dageraad expands its livery capacity from September on.

Dageraad Stud thanks Rayna Perrins and other members of the staff for all the excellent livery work they have done over the last years

ZWOEL is STER

Date 01-11-2008

Dageraad's ZWOEL (Dageraad x Zeoliet x Palfrenier x Lucky Boy XX), out of ORENTA, has earned the KWPN STER title. Dageraad's ZWOEL is the first (and only) mare bred in South Africa who got this title. From the 28th of July till the 29th of August 2008 the first 5 WEEK MARE TEST took place at Dageraad International Equestrian Centre in Rondeberg. This test is based on the requirements of KWPN for the registration of mares in its Studbook as Brood Mares. During the 5 weeks the mares were trained by Mr. KOOS FABER, who is internationally recognized as trainer of young horses. The mares were ridden by KIM, MEGAN (who came over from the Netherlands to assist DIEC in respect to the test) and SIMONE. The logistics were in the hands of RAYNA. On Friday the 29th of August the mares were examined by Mr. JAAP WERNERS : - Dageraad's ZWOEL; - Dageraad's AAFKE out of ORENTA); and - Dageraad's AIDA (out of LINDA) succeeded. Dageraad's BELA (Ferro x Flemmingh x Nimmerdor), out of TRUE DERMA, was not allowed to do the examination because she was a few days too young; only mares born before 2006 could do the test Together with the evaluation of her confirmation Dageraad's ZWOEL became a STER mare according to the standards of the KWPN Stud Book of Brood Mares. It is a proof and recognition of the high breeding standards of DAGERAAD STUD. Remarkable was the progression of all the young horses, just under saddle before the 5 week training started. Within 5 weeks time all of them jumped 1,10 m!! More important is that the young horses were able to show their capabilities in respect to the 3 basic gaits: simply excellent. Dageraad Stud is very thankful to Mr. NABER, the RIDERS and its STAFF for these results. With horses of the age of those who did participate in the 5 week mare test it was never shown before in South Africa

International success of Dageraad Stud

Date 08-05-2008

DAGERAAD'S TODD ( Dageraad x Burggraaf x Amor; out of Germana), ridden by Jenny van Staveren, has become 3th at the Dutch National Championship Hunting held on the 26th of April in the palace garden of Soestdijk (the former royal palace of the Dutch queen).

DAGERAAD'S RICARDO (Haarlem x Landwind IIB x Marinier; out of Linda) is in the Netherlands in training by Jenny van Staveren/Albert le Bon, supervised by Albert Voorn, Reserve Champion Show Jumping Olympic Games 2006.

DAGERAAD'S VIWALDI (Gribaldi x Rossini x Le Val Blanc XX; out of Heraldie) is in the Netherlands in training by John Swaab, member of the Dutch Olympic Team Dressage 1972.

DAGERAAD'S ADAM (Dageraad x Metall x Wolfgang; out of Unato) and DAGERAAD'S CAROLUS (Sandreo x Osmium x Falco ; out of Victoria) are sold to Mrs. Sonja Kipping to be exported to Namibia.

Mr. JAAP WERNERS, former chairman of the KWPN Stallion Selection Committee, has inspected all the foals, yearlings, 2 year olds and mares on 30th of April and 1st of May at Dageraad Stud. The results of his inspection is more then encouraging for the future of warm blood breeding by Dageraad Stud.

Export by Dageraad Stud

Date 15-02-2008

In 2007 Dageraad Stud sold ADAM (by Dageraad; out of Unato) to Namibia.
It was Dageraad Stud's second horse overseas.
TODD (also by Dageraad; out of Germana) was the first young stallion sold, that time to the Netherlands.

The export of Dageraad's in 2008 develops:
- RICARDO (Haarlem x Landwind II B x Marinier) and
- VIWALDI (Gribaldi x Rossini x Le Val Blanc XX),
are in quarantine for export to the Netherlands,
while
- CAROLUS (by Sandreo; out of Victoria) is sold to Mrs. Sonja Kipping, to be exported to Namibia.

It is very promissing for South African Warm Blood breeding, especially Dutch Warm Blood breeding, that people overseas do recognise the quality of our breeding of riding/sport horses

New Year's Eve Surprises

Date 02-01-2008

After Mr. John Swaab, former member of the Dutch Olympic Dressage Team, and his wife Mrs. Pieteke de Reus had visited Dageraad International Equestrian Centre to give a clinic re the training of young riding horses, Dageraad Stud is surprised  on New Year's Eve by a new foal and the sale of CAROLUS.

LINDA(Landwind II B X Marinier X Heidelberg) gave birth to COEN by SOLITAIR ( Voltaire X Libero H X Ulster).
Looking at his blood lines and his conformation we expect that COEN will be a Show Jumper with excellent movement.

CAROLUS (Sandreo X Osmium X Falco) out of VICTORIA, is bought by Mrs. Sonja Kipping, who, no doubt, immediately recognised the quality of this dressage bred colt, born on the 23th of December 2007!

CASIMIR IS BORN

Date 08-10-2007

CASIMIR, a colt by Ustinov (Libero H x Nimmerdor x Marco Polo); out of Suus (Burggraaf x Horatio x Triton), is born  on October 8th, 2007, at Dageraad Stud, Robertson, Western Cape.
Casimir is the first Ustinov born in South Africa.
Looking at his blood lines Casimir promises well for the future in Show Jumping.

STARTS LEASING DAGERAADS

Date 07-09-2007

DAGERAADSTUD offers both full financial as operational leasing of Dageraads.

The montly lease payments are during the lease period fixed and depend on:

- the value of the Dageraad at the beginning of the lease period;
- the interest rate at that moment;
- the age of the horse;
- the lease period;
- in case of operational lease the estimated value of the horse at the end of the lease period;
- the option exercise price in case of operational lease.
- the insurance premium for illness costs or death of the Dageraad.

Both leasing constructions do not require any payment upfront other then the first (montly) lease payment by the lessee.

The operational lease agreement limits the risks of the lessee. Nevertheless he is still entitled to enjoy the increase of value of the Dageraad by exercising his purchase option.

The lessee becomes owner of the Dageraad by paying the final lease payment (financial lease) or by paying the option exersise price (operational lease)

Unless agreed otherwise the Dageraad is stabled and trained at Dageraad International Equestrian Centre, Rondeberg

Please do not hesitate to ask for more information.
